Cork Attractions

There is so much to do and see in County Cork such as the Fota Wildlife Park and Fota Nature Reserve and Fota House and Gardens all on the island of Fota which lies just off Cork Harbour and is home to Ireland’s only wildlife park. The island also has Fota Island Golf Course and it is believed that golf has been played on the island since the 19th century. All Cork hotels and guesthouses will be glad to help you book a round of golf at a local course.

The Queenstown Story –this museum tells the story of the Famine in Ireland and those who survived and managed to escape to America. Other attractions include Cork Sea Safari, Cork City Gaol, Mizen Vision – on the southern- most part of Ireland this signal station provides panoramic views of the area’s spectacular coastline. Bantry House and Gardens built on the shore of Bantry Bay in the 1740’s has an extensive collection of art and tapestries.

Another area well worth a visit whether you enjoy walking or mountain biking or enjoy more sedate visits to heritage sites, castles and country houses – the Blackwater Valley will not disappoint. It has one of the first dedicated mountain biking centres at Ballyhoura.
